Seventy years ago, on December 8, 1949, the United States Province of the Daughters of Wisdom was established. In the ensuing 70 years, hundreds of Sisters have been telling the story of God’s Wisdom by working for the welfare of the world. You have seen them through the years as they ministered to women and children, families, and those who were most in need, both in the United States and abroad. You have known them through the years as dedicated pioneers in the fields of education, health care, social justice, spirituality, and ecological awareness. Through the years, many of you have collaborated with the Daughters of Wisdom to make “Divine Wisdom present in a world that hungers for meaning, justice, and compassion” (DW Mission Statement).
In celebration of our 70-year milestone, we welcome you aboard our journey through the years, a decade at a time, to revisit, remember and rejoice in who the Sisters are, what they did and to whom and with whom they ministered. The Daughters of Wisdom, an international congregation of Catholic women religious, are called in community to seek and contemplate Divine Wisdom in a world that hungers for meaning, justice, and compassion. We seek to bring the message of Jesus, Incarnate Wisdom, to people experiencing injustice, violence, poverty, and oppression, especially women and children.
