Sr. Marie Josée Seide Joins in Protest March Against Illegal Trafficking of U.S.-Made Guns to Haiti, the Caribbean and Central America

May 18, 2023

Sr. Marie Josée Seide participated with the Coalition of Haitian American Professional Societies and other concerned citizens in a Protest March today to stop the illegal trafficking of U.S.-made guns to Haiti, the Caribbean and Central America. The protesters began marching at the Korean War Veteran Park in downtown Brooklyn, walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, and continued marching to the United Nations building in Manhattan. They were escorted by police marching with them and keeping them safe, and their hearts were encouraged by many bystanders peacefully voicing their support for them. Today, May 18 is Ascension Thursday, so Sr. Marie Josée was off from work and able to participate in support of the people who are suffering through a deterioration of order and a crisis of violence in Haiti. "I'm glad that I was able to participate, because things are so bad over there in Haiti, and this is my way of showing our support for the people who are suffering over there. It is our way of saying: 'We are with you. We feel what you are going through," said Sr. Marie Josée. Sr. Marie Josée, who is from Haiti, is so saddened to hear of so many innocent victims of gun violence there. Today is also Flag Day for Haiti. She added, "Everyone should have the ability to live peacefully in the land that they were born. The continuous prayer support from our sisters, Associates, and staff is helpful and much appreciated." We continue to pray for peace in Haiti and in the Caribbean and Central America.
