5 Sisters Celebrate Milestone Jubilees on 317th Anniversary of Congregation

February 2, 2020

Today, February 2, 2020, marks the 317th anniversary of the foundation of the Congregation of the Daughters of Wisdom at Poitiers, France. It was this day in 1703 that Marie Louise Trichet received the religious habit from Louis Marie de Montfort. This year, five of our Sisters celebrate significant milestone Jubilees on this day - and a combined 335 years of religious life. They are Sr. Therese “Aurelie” Michaud, (Sr. Aurelie de la Croix) 98, who celebrates 80 years, Sr. Margaret “Peg” McPeak, (Sr. Marie Marguerite de la Sagesse) 95, who celebrates 75 years, and Sr. Anne Scahill, (Sr. Anne Marie of Montfort) 79, Sr. Mary Steivater, 79, (Sr. Andrew Mary of the Incarnation) and Sr. Mary Stuart, (Sr. Christopher of Mary) 80, all who celebrate 60 years of professed life.

Join us over the next few days as we highlight the ministries of Sisters Aurelie Michaud, Peg McPeak, Anne Scahill, Mary Stievater, and Mary Stuart.

Congratulations, Sisters!

Sr. Edith Menegus, OSU, Director of Pastoral Care at St. Charles Hospital, Port Jefferson, NY, authored the following prayer to commemorate this day. Thank you, Sr. Edith!

Our prayer of gratitude: Gracious God, we come before You today in thanksgiving for the Daughters of Wisdom on this their Congregation’s Foundation Day. We are grateful that in their love for Your people in need, they founded St. Charles Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Maryhaven Center of Hope, where we all continue Your healing ministries. We are blessed yesterday, today, and tomorrow by their presence. Our world is a brighter, more peaceful place because of the Daughters of Wisdom. We thank them for their labors, their companionship, and their witness to Your love for us all. We honor the journey of their lives and their ministries here and around the world. These women are truly the visible signs of invisible grace. We are blessed, may we always be grateful. Amen
